CTA AUSTIN STATION AND AUSTIN RAMPS

CAT Home     Photo Index

Moving the center ramps at Austin and Harlem to the right side involves a complicated set of trade-offs.

IDOT says right side ramps are safer than left side ramps.  Right side ramps are closer to housing, creating the potential for more air and noise pollution, negative impacts on property values, property tax revenues, views, and social connections across the corridor.  The proposed right side ramps are longer and higher than current ramps.
